hi

an year ago, STT,service tax and demat (sell) was included in brokerage structure of icici that is the reason they claim that they are economical
but now stt & service tax has to be paid extra and to get low brokerage
you need very high volumes.
right now the net brokerage is @ 0.96 (including stt & st) for
transactions below 10 lakh
which is very high

hi all

after reading through entire thread, i came to conclusion
that icici & geogit are more reliable and indiabulls & 5paise offer cheap
brokerage

but still cannot get an answer as to which one will offer reliable service
at reasonable brokerage:confused: . streaming quotes are not very imp for
me since i am not a day trader

ICICI Direct Way

if buying price is 300 and no of shares is 100 then 300*100=30000
com/tax 0.95% of 30000 = 285

total cost for buying share = 30285
After 5 days if selling price raises to 305

if selling price is 305 and no of shares is 100 then 305*100=30500
com/tax 0.95% of 30500 = 289.75

total profit = 30500 - 30000 = 500

so total profit - commission = net profit

500 - 574.15 = -74.75

so after 5 days of locking 30000 in shares we will get -74.75 Rs loose and

icicidirect will get 574.15 Rs profit......

What the f**k is this.........!!!!!!
or am i doing wrong in calculation........!!!!!!!!!!

please clarify.............. ASAP

Hi,

Although ICICIDirect charges are considered high, in this case, I guess the lose is the sole reponsibility of the trader.

Because if you see the profit per share: Rs.305 - Rs.300 = Rs.5, which is just 1.67% profit. The brokerage of ICICI will come around 2%. So its very obvious that one shouldn't enter this trade.

Even if one did, his strategy might have made him to get out of trade, eg. trendline break, (might have moved stop loss to a small amount upwards)stop loss break, etc.

I remember one thing: "Market is always correct".

Praveen.

your calculation is correct. that is how brokerages & taxes are calculated.
for any short term trade, one may enter a trade ONLY IF there is a potencial profit of 5%, out of which 2% goes towards trading expenses, leaving a net profit of 3% with some risk associated risk. it is not worth to go into a trade where the potential is less than 5%.

as a thumb rule, when a stock is purchased, just add 2% towards brokerage (both legs together) & calculate the annualised gain acheivable in the trade. for long term investment, a potential annualised gain of 24% may be desirable, which may average out to better than 12% PA in actual.

these calculations are applicable to low turnover small investors in cash for short term to long term.

Hi Murthymsr Sir ,

Please can you write about "how brokerage is calculated in "ND" period".
My broker's calculation do not match neither the Intraday , nor the Delivery Based ones.

Any guide to any link on NSE/BSE ?

Thanks ,
Raju

Dear All,
I am new to the share market........I want to make some extra cash through shares. Since i am always on the internet i am able to watch the market and it gives me the possibility to do intraday or short term investment.
again i have few questions.
Murthy Sir has given a nice tip
"one may enter a trade ONLY IF there is a potencial profit of 5%"
I'll never forget this Golden rule in shares

If my potencial profit is 5% then

if buying price is 300 and no of shares is 100 then 300*100=30000
com/tax 0.95% of 30000 = 285

total cost for buying share = 30285
When it reaches the potencial profit of 15 Rs more

Which means the share price reaches 315 Rs

if selling price is 315 and no of shares is 100 then 315*100=31500
com/tax 0.95% of 31500 = 299.25

total profit = 31500 - 30000 = 1500

so total profit - commission = net profit

1500 - 584.25 = 915.75

oops finaly I got 915.75 Rs profit............:D

Ok in this situation if i want to make more cash out of it.

So if i do the same through 5paisa.com 5 paisa + 5 paisa = 10 paisa over all

my profit will be 1192.5 :D

( Is there any catch in 5paisa.com like hidden costs?

again It may be a small plus. but when it goes in big figures the diff may be in thousands.......

If i do the same through a share broker can i get more profit.....

what could be the share brokers % if they agree to buy and sell share whenever i give orders to perform
