Re: new cheapest broker is here. Zerodha

Hi Raju,
For dp we have tied with IL&FS, who is the biggest dp in the country. The reason for tying up with IL&FS was because they are the most reputed dp in the country and also it let's us focus more on the trading part of the business. What is the role of the dp?? Basically when you buy any stock for delivery( buy stock in cash market for holding more than 2 days), after 2 days it goes and sits in your account with IL&FS. When you sell it, the same gets debited from your IL&FS account. All of this happens online... If you have to go open an account directly with IL&FS, they charge annual maintenance of Rs 600.. For all accounts through Zerodha the amc is Rs 400. This tie up helps us in focusing all our attention to make the clients trading experience with Zerodha excellent. If you don't intend to trade in delivery positions, there is no need to open an IL&FS account, we can use your existing dp and map it to the trading account. Cheers.. Sachin(Zerodha)

@zerodhaonline

I was informed that you do not have your office in Hyderabad.

Any plans to open one, in the near future?

Yes, you have been informed right. We do not have an office anywhere outside of Bangalore right now. We have centralized operations and use the Internet and phone to stay in touch with our customers and use couriers for paperwork.
This saves costs for us, and we pass on the benefit to you. :)

1. If you have your stocks in a DP other than ours, we will not be able to give you margin for trading. If stocks are in our DP, you will get margin.
2. If you want to trade only intraday, you don't need to open a demat account with us, only a trading account will suffice.
3. For derivatives, you can hold positions overnight without having a demat account with us as long as you have the required margin to hold the positions.

Everyone have a wonderful Diwali with a lot of love and light.
