I once heard Jim Cramer he comes in a show on CNN named Mad Money say
"shorting puts is for MORONS... It is shorting puts which wipes out whole capital of people..when floors start to fell in the market you wouldn't be able to even square off ur positions"..

Shorting calls is a good strategy... i have shorted calls several times near expiry using margin of my holdings... one can earn 800-1200 safely in last 2-3 days of expiry.. but one should know which stock to choose... i short calls of stocks like NTPC,POWERGRID,MRPL,MTNL etc.. Also the thing is Puts are not that liquid in market one can get trapped after shorting...
