we were at the verge of default in 90's. But never collapsed. It was difficult time and we were looking for a loan, but not a bail out. Asking a loan is begging ? we only asked a loan, right ?
And finally we have pledged our gold and took a loan.

Dhanya ho Sir ji!!! That it is possible in someone's view that if we had defaulted but still we would Not have collapsed then..... then I can only say Hey Raam!!

Before getting angry it is good if you read books, some history on that IMF crisis situation.

It was a freaking BAIL OUT. Call it what it is/was. Not some minor gold for loan thing... you sound it like it was some lower middle class pledging gold in a distressed situation. Baap re baap. Kuch bhi...

ALL the Rao government reforms happened b'cos IMF had put its gun on the head of India. Strictict conditions and total capitulation in terms of terms of everything IMF asked for karne par funding naseeb hui thi. We surely would have collapsed without IMF bakshish, civil war like situation or even possible balkanisation might have happened had we not got we you called as "loan".

How can a market participant talks like... they are supposed to know and track world economies and geopolitical situations etc. Examples galores of countries getting doomed without IMF bail out, many despite getting it!!!
