In persuit of financial independence.
Election commission thinks that a biopic can alter the mindset of voters, but they have no objection when a group of 'intellectuals', theatre artists, spent actors call on people against voting for a political party.
And more importantly, election commission doesn't stop people from announcing 72000 per year dole from people's money for buying votes.
One likes it or not, majority Indians as a whole are not much nationalists, they worry more about their own self rather than the nation at large, be it caste, money, clout, corruption etc.
A walk on an Indian road presents how nationalist people are, majority will flout every possible rule and what not.
We get what we deserve .....(in the process even law abiding citizens get the same (undeserved))

you missed the reason for ban on movie. 2 days before election there can not be any campaign, Movie and NaMo tv channel should not be there during these days. That's the reason of banning until election results.

The rule is for good of democracy. T N Sheshan did good for country when he refused to bow to political pressure and brought transparency to election process. I hoped current govt had supported same and not allowed opaque foreign donation to political parties in name of electoral bonds. No wonder the rule was passed without any discussion by all the parties as all politicians are beneficiary to the donation.

Not sure about how it works outside but Indian MPs and MLAs decides their own salary , benefits and rules applicable to them . No wonder they are corrupt and arrogant. And no once can change it now.

Same thing happens in UK too.. when I was in UK, there was huge scandal on MP's expense claims. MP's use to claim expenses on 2 houses (mortgage, rent) and will rent out their own accommodation. Some claimed duck house in the pond as expense, others would claim taxi fare even though they were living at walking distance.

at least it was reformed after it came to public, in India there is no chance. People keep shouting, CAG keep finding fault, nothing changes.

Base problem for all these is we copied our constitution and rules from UK, USA and Russia and hoped it will work well. But we inherited the issues from all the 3 countries as well. To name a few :
  • Socialism from Russia with no clear definition of when subsidies are going to end or how to give job adn livelihood to poor people
  • Liberal Law from UK without thinking that we need strong law and we are not as responsible as their citizens
  • States with massive power and authority but never thought of any central control or any supreme authority on states to control if they fall out of line
  • Added caste system in laws which only aggravated and now after 70 years of independence caste system is ruling the parties/govt

one could argue if central power is good option or distributed at state level. India being so much diverse, states should have more power. Historically whenever there was central power in India it collapsed under it's weight. But then, individual state with more power is danger too.
Overall, democracy is good and current system is best of all. The main issue however is Power worship. Neta's don't drive on road once they are elected. Same attitude with Class 1 officers.
