Re: new cheapest broker is here. Zerodha

hi shabsaif,
am using exe version.lot easier than the web based.till now there is no problem with now.good thing about now trading terminal is even if it gets disconnected because of internet problem, once the connection is established it automaically reconneced and all the orders are reconciled immeditely.am using odin from another low cost brokerage firm, but trust me it gets on to my nerves more than trading misjudements.in a day would have to login 5 or 6 times atleast and hanging is perennial.was of the opinion that 256kbps
bb is the reason but once started using 'now' also then could notice the diff.
drawbacks- not much to complain but when u take a trade view limits will not reflect the balance amount,so manually calculat balance to take another trade.
may be sachin from zerodha could clarify.would be lot of help.
happy trading
rt
Hi, Go to Surveillance, RMS limits and view limits... In the window right click on the white screen which has your limits.. right click and choose reposition columns, here you can add or delete a lot of fields.. Choose Cash margin available and percentage used .. This will show the cash margin available and calculation will happen automatically of the funds.. You would probably have to put half hour research to figure sections you would require.... Cheers....

Re: new cheapest broker is here. Zerodha

Suggestion for Zerodha:

Have a fillable form on your website, which shall walk the client through all the filling up of details; once complete pdf form could be downloaded.

In case of error, the potential client just has to visit your website, fill in the details and download pdf.

Some Banks, Mutual Funds and Online Insurance companies do it...So can you. Cheap and easy.

Regards,
Our online form will be up in the next two days... But we still don't know if the clients would fill it properly... Secondly, a lot of clients don't have access to a printer, hence we have to send a physcial form...

Re: new cheapest broker is here. Zerodha

Dear gunavadhi,
thanks for brokerage calculator but in that brokerage calculator....brokerage is by default by Zerodha and we cann't change it. please give us a general brokerage calculator where we can count total tax and charges with different brokerage like with 1paisa or 2 or 3paisa.

Thanks& regards
Pav
I dont think you quite follow - The brokerage calculator posted belongs to Zerodha - naturally you cant change the brokerage values since the excel sheet was drafted that way - you can only change the buy and sell prices along with the quantity to get an understanding of what your breakeven would be

Re: new cheapest broker is here. Zerodha

Okay, its been almost a week since my account got opened and here's my review:

ACCOUNT OPENING:
Received courier on time; ILFS person came for KYC and the very next day got welcome email from ILFS.
Zerodha welcome email was delayed by 2 business day from the "within a week" timeframe. I had to ping Zerodha on their yahoo messenger with details. But fast enough as compared with others.

SOFTWARE:
Installation of NOW is a cakewalk. Especially if you are one of those who has the experience of installing ODIN from RK [installer, dlls, mplsMUMBAI.reg, DNS etc etc]
Hopefully, NOW help/tutorial will be up soon. Wonder why the developers/vendors did not think of it earlier?

Now online too is pretty good.

Some unique problems that i faced:
Funds transfer: although my hdfc a/c number displayed on the nowonline site was correct, it lacked a zero in the begining and hence was giving "invalid account number " error while trying to transfer money. HDFC has 14 digit a/c number system. Even the initial zeros matter. Called up bangalore and problem solved.

TAME: My attempts to login to TAME met with "invalid id/pwd" error for 2 days. Sent screenshot after screenshot to Zerodha email and messenger but nothing seemed to work.
Then i thought of changing my password by dropping special character [my earlier pwd has special character '#' in it] and lo and behold it worked !
TAME it seems doesn't accept spl char. while NOW does.

Feedback:
1)have the password guidelines displayed on websites.
2) please respond the ALL emails. Silent treatment is considered RUDE. Even a one liner "call customer service for further assistance" would suffice. BUT do respond. My emails are yet to receive any reply on this matter. Problem solved anyway.

dear Zerodha, you guys are doing a great job and listening [listening] and hence the feedback. Please don't compare yourselves with rks and angels, set a higher benchmark [esignal etc!?]

Thanks.

Our bad, if there was any delay..Was trying to figure out which email id you were trying to contact for the Tame issue.. [email protected] and [email protected], we make sure has no problems that is unattended.... Trading accounts in our office is opened in a days time, the delay would have happened because of not receiving the dp proof from ilfs on time..

It is nice to get a feedback so we can fix it at the earliest. Because of our low cost model, we are trying to find different ways to address customer service issues. For one, we will have videos from account opening to installing NOW to using NOW everything on Videos... We are collating all the queries that are generally asked by customers directly or through forums and making a video archive on answer to all of them..

We doing broking business differently than any other broker in India. Neat, clean, efficient and simple. All feedbacks, good and bad would help us improve faster....

Issues with anything, do email us on [email protected]... email is a better way to communicate and we are always online...

citius, altius, fortius ... :)

Cheers.....

Sachin...

NSE FUTURES INTRADAY
Re: new cheapest broker is here. Zerodha

I have already opened demat and trading accounts with Zerodha. To tell you all they are the best and strive to excel in customer service department. Just talk to them over phone or email them, you will come to know instantly. They would solve your concerns even on basics like how to trade. Everyone at their place are well trained and knowledgeable. thank u zerodha!!

But, NSE now, .EXE software, as I am very new to online trading, still finding very difficult to understand. A lot of fields to select from. Really confusing to what to select and what not to. I have used Ventura s/w earlier and it was pretty easy. Zerodha people, even asked me to drop to their office to see how a live trading session goes and have my doubts cleared. Planning to visit their office soon.

Zerodha, would give 10 times of cash exposure to 200 odd A group equity stocks while they give 5 times exposure to some 2000 B group scrips. It is the best in the interest of a day trader. I had to close religare and ventura a/c due to the lack of exposure for most of the scrips.

I know that this thread is on Zerodha a/c opening and related. I see that many new members have posted here and also experienced and wise members. If you people can help me clearing my one small doubt I am very grateful to you all. The doubt is while placing Stop Loss buy/sell orders.

I am very new to trading. Please help. Please be specific. I have tried asking the same questions in other threads but did not get an exact answer that I was looking for. thank u ALL here...

scenario 1: Assume a liquid stock such as "Ambuja cememt". Assume that it is trading with a volume more than 2 lakhs at the moment with a price of 100. I want to buy it only when it goes above 101. I will enter Trigger price as 101.10 and limit price as 101.20 or 101.25. All is fine here. No problem. Even if I place order to buy 5000 shares I am sure that it would get executed. No clarification needed here. But, if I enter a limit price as 101.90, does it have any difference on the price at which shares are bought? Please clarify.

Scenario 2:

Assume a illiquid stock such as "Star". Assume that it is trading with a volume of 20 thousand at the moment with a price of 100. I want to buy it only when it goes above 101. Now, suppose if I have to buy 5000 shares of the same; I would enter a trigger price of 101.10. But, how far the limit price should be entered? Does it have any impact on the price at which shares are bought; if I enter the Limit price as 102.00 Vs Limit price as 103.00? Limit price of 102.00 should be enough to buy 5000 shares I guess. But, does it have any impact if I enter Limit price of 103.00? In this case, would the shares be bought at over expensive price than if the Limit price were 102.00?

Feedback to Zerodha.
I got my account with Zerodha.
1.The gateway with fund transfer need to be with ICICI too.
2.Secondly backoffice help is missing in backoffice software.
3.Fund withdrawal thru backoffice did not work, I called your office and they done.
4. From this forum posts, you can create FAQ and keep on your site.
5. I appreciate that your system - NOW gives access to post closing session i.e. 3:40 to 4:00 pm.
6. You can have online chat system on your website, so your visitors can get answers upfront.
7. If you configure trouble ticket system (many opensource free products are available, you may use SugarCRM too) and configure some email id, where people can send mail. The TT system will auto generate ticket id for you and client and will auto send ticket id to client. Even client can login to it (on your website) and see status. This system can generate dashboard for you to see things like what are top 10 issues people request/ issues etc. PM me if you need more info.
8. For trade management/ contract note management you can provide something like http://www.perfios.com/ - Perfios is free software. You don't need to manage it.
9. NSE Nowonline is really fast...

Re: new cheapest broker is here. Zerodha

Dear sachin,
I want to ask about dp...why it with ILFL?why not in your name"zerodha"....I hope you sent forms to me:)
It is ILFS, the reason we have a tie up with them is because we wanted to focus on trading aspect of the business. 99% of our trading volumes happen in f&o and dp business have a lot of compliance issues.
Secondly and more importantly, we didn't want to get into the margin funding business or the business where shares are given as collateral for f&o positions. This aspect of broking is what puts risk on clients defaulting when markets turn around and we didn't want to take that risk on our head. ILFS has 10000crores in cash and had helped a lot of brokers in 2008. By passing that risk on the head of ILFS, we are trying our best to make Zerodha truly a Zero barrier( Zero + Rodha(barriers in sanskrit) ) trading platform ...

and yes your forms have been couriered... :) ...
