Quadra Safe Trading Strategy - I

#52
hmm.. hmm.. very visual strategy. And Kavima's idea of combining with a channel.. Reminds of 2 other strategies : a) Columbus's EMA strip in BB, and b) Guppy.

The thing is that I am not trading either of those two, though they are very good. For some time, for intraday, I have been using 8-21-55 on 1 min.

But this combination of multipe MAs is like, the trade is shouting at you.

Why call it "Quadra" ??

Looking at the chart of Bharti above, I feel that some other exit strategy also needs to be defined for the nervous traders. See, even after 30 bars, the TSL is uncomfortably close to the sell price.

Maybe something like : Exit if the price does not touch 5MA for 5 bars, re-enter (if comfortable) on 13MA re-touch.. Or maybe exit 50%.

Thanks Anant for the detailed explanation. I got the picture now. :)

I guess, I had mixed up the DBSB concept as per the auto-markings on the chart and came up with that SL.
Hi Sudris,

In order to avoid the mix-up between DBSB and quadra, the new AFL was made. You can see from the latest charts posted by SG (BHARTIARTL and HPCL) there are no DBSB markings but only Entry/Exit points for quadra are marked.

The DBSB Strategy and its AFL are still under development. Therefore, you got confused by the markings. When the strategy is developed completely by SG you will see that such markings will not distract you even in the DBSB strategy.

Hi TP,

This is the beauty of Quadra. You need not be nervous as long as the EMA50 is above the price and is sloping downwards and the WMAs are in proper order (5 below 8 and 8 below 13). It will not allow you to exit in panic if you follow it seriously. Of course, in extreme reactions in market conditions or very favourable news for the scrip it will take the price up rapidly and still you will exit at SL with a small profit or small loss. But such extreme cases will affect any strategy very badly.

Hello Anant Ji,

Indeed, its a combined effort of you and SG sir. Kudos to you two
As far as distractions are concerned, you are correct that now there wont be any.

Although it's an individual's choice to modify, I suggest other guys to not compare and try to make a hybrid out of it as it may add a bit of confusion if not more. This way the thread's moment and ideologies/strategies can be grasped easily and most important, clearly.

by the way, Anant Ji,
for those who don't have Wilder's MA can use EMA of (2n-1) where n = number of periods of Wilder's MA.

So in this case one can use the following EMAs:
EMA(9) ~ Wilder's MA(5) (2*5-1=9).
EMA(15) ~ Wilder's MA(8)
EMA(25) ~ Wilder's MA(13).

Although 9, 15 and 25 do not fall in Fibonacci, the EMAs of these correspond approx/exactly(in Amibroker) to the required Wilder's MA that we need as per this strategy.
It would be great to have your inputs for the EMAs.
