As your market is closed, here some thing out of the box:

Live: Costa Concordia (Italy)

Today the try to put up the 50'000 tonne ship in a vertical position. Some thing like that never was done in history with such a big ship. The ship sank one and a half year ago by an accident the captain of the ship made. 34 people died and other maybe 3800 people survived. Since then they planned to do what you see now live in the link.

In the link you just press the full screen button. The event will approximately take an other seven hours. So if you are interested, just jump in some times to see how this unique work moves on.

...and to top it off, was facing the prospect of jail as she would not be able to repay loan installments.
Not able to repay a housing loan does not result in one going to jail.

The lender either takes control of the collateral (the house) and sells it for what he can salvage or the debtor files for bankruptcy. There is no question of going to jail.

Seems you have not read properly... this was not our country. If you take a loan in the Gulf countries and not repay, you will be in jail. There are thousands (not hundreds) of people who are in prison because of bounced cheques. (The banks take a blank cheque as a guarantee before disbursing the loan)

Not able to repay a housing loan does not result in one going to jail.

Dan............please tell about that video in English.........unable to read Italian :D
It is a live stream from what is going on there. On the right upper side in the page you should have a "Picture" and this is live from the place since hours. You can make if full screen.

Then in that page is also a "Fotostrecke" with 5 pictures which give an idea what happens. Just look at them one by one, even you do not understand the language, you should be able to interpret the picture.

In a nutshell:

The many big tanks on the side of the ship, each one high around 30 meters and deep around 22 meters, will be filled with water to bring the ship quicker into a vertical positions. The cable winches on the side, around 17 so far I counted, have each one a pulling force of 6000 tonnes. Under the ship you have chains which hold the ship where it is. Now they slowly draw the ship with the cable winches up centimeter by centimeter. You have to know that this ship is 260 meters long and has a weight of around 50'000 tonnes. So they have to be very careful, as the mechanical stress for the ship is heavy. Under the ship they have placed a lot of sandbags, so when the ship finally falls in the vertical position, it will not have more damages it has already.

Interesting will be the moment when it reached an angel of about 60 degree or a bit more. Then the weight of the water tanks will come into full play and it should move quickly into position. As this was never done with such a big ship in the history of humans, engineers are quit nervous about the success. So far it looks fine. When you look at the ship, you see a clear line between blue and brown color. The brown colored part is the part they until now took out of the water. So the ship comes very, very slowly into position.

Sorry about my translation :D
