Keylogger, A definition from web.
A keylogger is a type of surveillance software (considered to be either software or spyware) that has the capability to record every keystroke you make to a log file, usually encrypted.
How to protect your self from keylogger....?
Now a days most of the AV recognizes the keylogger if is there any installed in your PC. But some latest spyware software are hell and sends every key stroke that you press(like password) to it's creater.
So when we are using banking sites to do online transaction keep below points in mind as i usually does.
I didn't remember where i read this trick while entering the passwords usually in banking sites. suppose your password is 'qwerty@123'. so first enter 'qwery@123' then from mouse set the cursor position after 4th character and then enter 't'. Obviously there would be star(hidden characters) so be care full while entering and remember the sequence. you can make any combination as per your choice. So keylogger stores it as 'qwery@123t'. Use mouse to set cursor pointer because if u use arrow key that will be keystroke.
Avoid banking transactions from internet cafe, others PC. you must always use your own PC, Mobile.
Also if your banking site supports 3-d secure password like citi bank then better to enable it. It sauthenticate OTP after u successfully entered password.
While doing online shopping use OTP rather than entering the password.
Most important, always check the web address (to avoid phishing) and ensure that it must be 'https'.
