Edward DeBono came to India at the end of 2007 to give a series of lectures. In the Times of India article he was reported to say of Indians that we are prone to arguement, and that arguement was a very primitive form of discussion!! Now I understand what he was saying:clapping:

1. Pharma co's are not killing people or profiting from death. They produce the medicine to cure not kill. Perhaps we could say profit from life!
2. Swine flu is flu, people die all over the world of common flu every day of the year.
3. The same pharma co's have been invested in for years by probably most if not all on this forum even if in the form of MF's. Who's been encouraging these same companies all these years for them to be in the position to profit from these Tamifu drug.

Get a grip, no one is killing or profiting from killing or glad that people are dying. We are all sensitive to the deaths of the 16 or so who have died from Swine flu in India and for their families who have to bear the loss. But also we are sensible enough to realise that Tamiful may help to prevent this strain of flu from spreading and becoming an epidemic that grinds the country, businesses, farmers and the stock market to a stand still.

Perhaps the Pharma co's should give the drug away for free to prevent possible deaths, and maybe the Farmers should give away their crops for free to certainly prevent deaths. Because surely without food we will all die.

You are all highly intelligent chaps. Don't pick on and bully the first guy for posting a reasonable and sensible post, simply for being the first guy. He was in no way being insensitive or suggesting to profit from suffering or death.

Well said Class,,,

But there is no point arguing with people who dont get the point in 1st time. We are here for tips not to babysit...

Anway, after some reading and research, i came to a conclusion that the pharma stocks have rallied a lot and there could be some more room for improvement but this is a very short term and uncertain trend to follow.

Correct me if I am wrong anywhere people.

hardik

Roche Pharma Co. have just DONATED Rs. 10 Crore of Tamiflu Tablets to Maharashta gov. to treat 50k people in Inida!!

Important because we measure the value of a company to invest in by their management. The Manangement of this co. have acted early to gift tamiflu tablets to ensure that Swine flu doesn't become a pandemic. If it does and we all pray it does NOT become a pandemic, this co. have acted early and they cannot be blamed if the worst happens as they have tried to help earlier rather than later.

These are the things we look for in good quality companies in addition to earnings and profitability... responsible, timely and good decisions by the management!!

The pantaloons guy was on CNBC saying that in his opinion Swine Flu would have little effect on their business.

Happy Independence day to all.
