Seems like you don't buy ginger / onions / greens / groceries yourselves :D

Also, there was some policy change restricting palm oil imports so the price of cooking oils is shooting up. I used to by unrefined coconut oil @Rs.320 per kg, but the day before yesterday it was Rs.360 and the shopkeeper said that it would go up 400+ !!!! It seems that the price of raw materials for all the oils has shot up.

Green coconut has gone up from about Rs.50 to 65+
Yes, edible oils have gone up by 10% or so during last 2-3 weeks but are still much lower than what were some 15-18 months ago.

Various state assembly elections on Nov. 13 and 20. I suppose Nov. 20 will be a holiday because of the elections in Maharashtra.

CPI data released this week shows, oils have increased 2.5% YoY, whereas vegetable prices have increased 36% YoY

Most of such data released by Govt, is for statistical purpose only, far from reality. The cooking oil that we are using was some 120/lt some 2-3 weeks earlier and currently is 130/140 and was some 190/210 some 15-18 months back.

Further India is a vast country and sale price of an item (even branded ones) vary online/offline, from shop to shop, area to area and state to state.

Take an example, tomato is currently priced @ 124/kg in Delhi NCR and here in Bengaluru it is 49/kg. (online price)
