Can an NRI trade in Derivatives?

#11
hi
I am an nri looking to open an online trading account. As i understand, nris r allowed to invest only thru PIS(potifolio investment scheme) which has several restrictions like no intraday trading , restriction on the companies we can invest in and also derivatives. But i have got a lot of contradicting info about trading in derivatives.
My question is
Can a nri investor trade in derivatives like futures and options?

Any feedback would be really appreciated
thanks

NRIs can trade in derivatives, there are some restrictions though. Account can be opened with any registered broker. Only they can explain what type of account is suitable for derivatives trading.

nri's can trade into the derivatives market. they need a broker who executes trades, a clearing member who clears the trades and a bank with NRO a/c for maintaining the margins for the derivative position
