What freaks me are the days when Nifty gaps 50-100 points, and then stays in a 10 point range for the next couple of hours. This has happened many times in the recent months. Probably, pre-open is one reason for this behavior. Earlier, when there was no pre-open, prices used to have swings before settling.

Is it that are the major investors watch the pre-open and then decide that this should be the quote price?
