Tax Free Relief Bonds Income tax hassles

Hello everyone. New kid in town.
I bought 8.5% Government Of India Relief Bonds in 2001.

These were tax free. But the actual bond does not say anywhere that these are tax free bonds. It ony says "vide Government Of India Notifcation No. F 4(1) W&M / 99.

Now, the income tax department is not accepting these bonds as tax free. I cannot find the notifiction in the RBI site.

How can I prove that these were indeed taxfree bonds.
